Skull female - age 78
The model was generated by using computed tomography scans. The human skull forms the head of our skeletons. The skull covers the brain, the central organ of our nervous system, and protects it from getting injured. On top of that, the facial skeleton’s bones support the structure of the face. The skull consists of the cranium and the lower jaw (also known as mandible). Please note that in this model a part of the mandible was excluded. The skull is made up of twenty-two flat bones. Cranial nerves and blood vessels pass through numerous channels and holes, otherwise called foramina. A cavity of skull connects to the spinal cord thanks to a large oval opening in the occipital bone. The facial skeleton forms the bone? The set of bones of the facial skull determines the shape of the face. The average head circumference (in adults) is about 52-64 cm ( 20.5-25 inches), length 15-18 cm (6-7 inches), width 12-15 cm (from 5 to 6 inches).
Patient's description: female, age 78 The model was created for educational use, to help students, professors, and people interested in anatomy to deepen their knowledge about human body and get familiar with key elements of the human cranium.
